Create a web page...
You have been contacted by a squeaky voiced lady that wants you to build a web page for her. She is interested in showing off her herb garden but does not want to sell herbs over the Internet. It is strictly a "show and tell" site with some educational information included. The informational section will be about attracting bees using herbal plantings.
Facts:
She is willing to pay for 3 pages.
Home page
Bees page
Link page
Include:
Create a set of pages...
Colors should be consistent throughout the site.
Menuing should be very clear, including text menus for non-graphical browsers.
She wants buttons down the left side that take you to the three pages regardless of where you are in the site.
The target audience has up-to-date browsers so flash items are fine.
She loves javascript effects as long as they don't overwhelm the user.
She wants the "entrance" picture used on the home page but is very flexible about the placement of all other images.
She is depending on YOU to make the page a work of art and wants to see your best work when you email the link.
These are the links she wants on the link page:
http://www.rexseedco.com/bee.htm
http://www.naturalself.com/generic5.html http://www.geocities.com/gardenguild/butterfly.html
http://www.lotf.com/misc/butterfly/butterfly.htm

Back view of the herb garden
Hyssop and Borage. Flower can be used in salads. Historically the plant was believed to give people courage if they ate it.
Foxglove before blooming
Foxglove after blooming
Lavender, Coneflower, Beebalm, Poppies, Foxglove and the little wicker thing is called a bee skep and is an old fashioned bee hive.
Sweet Cicely. Used in salad dressings and flavorings. The seeds are sometimes eaten raw. The leaves were rubbed on bee skeps to attract hives.
Verbena - The bright color is attractive to bees. Used in eye makeup and in salads as a flavoring.
Don't forget to make any changes necessary to the images so they look their best and load quickly.
Do not use templates to build these pages, Davorin.
It is okay to use other graphics, images, information, etc. from other sources.
Upload to a web page so she can see it..
Grading
This will count as three assignments on my grade sheet.
We are looking for QUALITY. The graphics should amaze the visitor, images should load quickly, yet retain detail. The site should be accessible to people using non graphical browsers and people with vision impairments.
Upload it and send me the URL so I can see it.
IF WE CAN'T SEE IT, WE CAN'T GRADE IT, SO MAKE SURE IT WORKS.
I will grade the technical parts of the page and assign a grade of 4, 2, 0.
The squeaky voiced lady will put the sites into three groups. Excellent (4), okay (2), or not so good (0). I have asked her to put the sites into the three groups equally. There will be 1/3 of the submissions in the 0 catagory.
I will average the two scores.
