File Transfer Protocol is the dominate manner in which files are moved from place to place on the Internet. This does not happen within the browser although most browsers have FTP capability built into them to allow them to call up an FTP utility. The problem is that FTP done within a browser is very slow compared to doing a file transfer with an FTP utility. FTP utilities also have other tools that allow them to be a much more efficient method of moving files from place to place.
Due to restriction placed on the network within Evergreen School District, we are not allowed to use FTP. I would recommend that you use FTP if you develop web pages from hom. There are several good, free FTP clients that easy to use such as WS_FTP LE (32-bit) 5.08. Download from here.
