General - Importing Graphics into Flash
Flash creates very complicated graphics very quickly. Other programs offer
different (and sometimes better) tools.
Vector versus raster (bitmapped)
Vector is mathematically defined (a line is a mathematical description of
the line not the individual points). Vector requires more processing power
but results in smaller files. Flash is a vector program.
Raster contains the information about each point that makes up the picture.
Less processing power required but much greater file size. Microsoft Paint
is a raster or bitmapped program.
Importing graphics into flash is discouraged for two reasons:
1) the images may not import in a form that displays as expected.
2) the images are usually less efficient than those created in flash therefore
bigger and slower.
Importing graphics:
"File", "Import".
