You cannot pass the A+ exam without intensive study. The purpose of this class
is to give you the theory and hands-on experience to allow you to pass the exam.
If you aren't here you will find it difficult to do well on the test. In addition,
this will be a very fast paced class. We will not have time to go back and bring
people up to speed during class time.
Most of my career has been in the "real" world working for large corporations. In that venue we expect that everyone treat each other with respect. What you think of each other is irrelevant. How you treat each other is. There is nothing more important than reaching the assigned object regardless of how we feel personally about each other. That said, I would hope that you would all enjoy the class and the participants.
This class will require your attention. To that end we will not allow distractions in this classroom. Personal electronics will not be permitted unless they are relevant to the topic. Computer games will not be allowed. Don't even ask...I tend to play music most of the time. It will be a variety of music, some of which you will like and some that you won't. Your opinion about my choices matter to you but usually not to me. If you want to make a request that is great. I will not play anything with profanity, strong drug references, violence references or lyrics which put down classes of our population. About the only two genres that I don't play are rap and country. I am a firm believer that we become what we put into our brains so I limit negative influences.
What we have is all we get. In order to provide a long-term learning experience we have to take care of the equipment. A large number of things in this room are my personal items and I would hope that you would treat them with respect and care.
Do it...Especially the reading.
Because of the limitations of funding for this class there will be items you will need to purchase. The first will be a set of tools suitable for working on computers. They are available for as little as $10.00 or you may opt to spend as much as you wish. Almost any tool set sold at compuiter stores or at office supply stores will be fine. At the minimum it should contain several screwdrivers and tweezers. You will also need a box of floppy disks. Over the course of this class you will amass a collection of boot disks and utilities that will be great tools for the future.
